The Argüello Enríquez family, the vibrant owners of Finca Santa Cruz, are nestled near the Biósfera del Triunfo reserve, perched between 1400 to 1700 masl.
Just four years ago, the youngest member of the family José Argüello embarked on a mission to prove that Mexico is more than capable of delivering exceptional coffee to the world, competing with the very best out there. Their sprawling 60-hectare estate reflects José's vision for precise, advanced, and eco-friendly farming practices. They meticulously harvest cherries based on Brix levels, fine-tune fermentations according to pH, and embrace experimentation, growth, and collaboration.
The area is a treasure trove of biodiversity, adorned with native Inga trees that generously provide shade, fostering coffee growth in harmony with the lush reserve. In 2018, they pioneered a protocol that was so successful, it became the blueprint for 2019 and propelled them into the prestigious Mexico's Cup of Excellence contest.
The result? A resounding victory, with a whopping score of 93.04 for their natural Geisha – a record-breaking achievement in the history of Mexico's COE. From there, Finca Santa Cruz has been on an unstoppable winning streak, clinching the COE Mexico title for three consecutive years.
